I'm Asilbek. In June 2024 I couldn't read a single character. In March 2025 I passed HSK 4 with 245/300 — self-taught, no tutor, while working full time. Now I teach absolute beginners through the new HSK 3.0 course books, levels 1 to 3.

The new HSK 3.0 course books, levels 1 to 3
We work through 《新HSK教程》 (FLTRP) on the new HSK 3.0 syllabus — the one published in November 2025 and in effect since July 2026, not the old six-level HSK your search results keep showing you. One level is a real, finishable milestone.
Getting off zero
Pinyin and tones until they're automatic. Your first characters, written by hand. Introducing yourself, numbers, family, time, ordering food, asking prices.
300 characters

Sentences that survive contact
Past, ongoing and finished actions. Comparisons, directions, plans, opinions. The point where you stop translating from your own language in your head.

Holding a real conversation
把 and 被 sentences, complements, longer connected speech. Reading short texts without a dictionary open. This is where Chinese starts paying you back.
900 characters
~4 months at 2 lessons/week
Word and character counts are from the official HSK 3.0 syllabus, cumulative. HSK 3.0 also splits characters into two skills — the ones you read, and the smaller set you write by hand — and we treat them separately from the first lesson. If you're aiming at the exam, we prepare for it directly. If you just want to talk to people, we skip the exam drills and spend that time speaking.

We meet, I test where you are, and I show you the plan for your first month. If you continue, the $5 comes off your first package.

Three months, start to finish of a level. For people who want the certificate or the fluency, not the dabbling.

Who's teaching

I've worked inside the language-learning industry — I was Creator Relations Manager at Laoshi, a Chinese learning app, where my job was finding and working with the people who teach Chinese online. I saw what works and what's just marketing.
Outside that, I run @studywithasilbek, a study account for people learning Chinese without a tutor, and I write free and paid guides for absolute beginners. Teaching one-to-one is the part I kept being asked for.
I'm from Uzbekistan, I learned Chinese in English, and I'm still learning — currently working toward HSK 5. You're not getting a professor. You're getting someone two years ahead of you who took notes the entire way.

Before you ask
Fair questions
You're not a native speaker. Isn't that worse?
For HSK 1–3, no — and often the opposite. At beginner level almost everything you need is explanation, not immersion: why this word order, why this tone changes, why 了 is not past tense. I had to reason all of it out in a second language, so I can hand you the reasoning. Around HSK 4–5, when you need volume of native speech, I'll tell you to add a native tutor. I'll even help you pick one.
Do I need to know anything before the first lesson?
Nothing. Not one character, not the pinyin alphabet. Absolute-zero beginners are exactly who these levels are for. Bring a notebook and a device that can run Zoom.
Will we write characters by hand?
Yes, from level 1, and not because it's traditional — handwriting is what makes characters stick in your memory instead of blurring into each other. Around 15 minutes of your homework each week.
Can you prepare me for the HSK exam?
Yes, for levels 1–3 of the new HSK 3.0 syllabus. I sat HSK 4 myself in March 2025, so I know what exam day feels like and where the timing traps are — and I follow the 3.0 changes closely, because the syllabus is new for everyone, teachers included.
What if I need to miss a lesson?
Tell me 12 hours ahead and we move it, no charge. Later than that and the lesson counts — I've held the hour and prepared your material.
How do I pay?
