We study with 《新HSK教程》 (FLTRP). These books are made for the new HSK 3.0, not the old six-level HSK you still see in most search results. Each level is a real goal you can finish.
Writing by hand is what made characters stick for me. The new HSK separates the characters you read from the ones you write, and we practise them separately. About 15 minutes of homework a week.
If we meet twice a week, this is roughly how it goes.
Pinyin and tones until you don't think about them. Your first characters. Saying who you are, numbers, family, time, ordering food.
Talking about the past, your plans and your opinions. Comparing things, giving directions. You stop translating in your head.
把 and 被 sentences, longer answers, and reading short texts without a dictionary.
If you want the HSK 3 certificate, we prepare for it. If you just want to speak, we spend that time talking.
Native speakers know what's correct. But they don't remember why something felt impossible on Tuesday and easy on Friday, because it was never hard for them. I learned Chinese as an adult, not long ago, so I remember the order in which things start to make sense.

For HSK 1–3, I don't think so. At this level you mostly need things explained: why this word order, why this tone changes, why 了 isn't just past tense. I had to figure all of that out myself, so I can explain it. When you reach HSK 4–5 and need lots of native speech, I'll tell you honestly and help you find a native tutor.
No. Not one character, not even pinyin. My lessons are made for complete beginners. Just bring a notebook and something that can open Google Meet.
Yes, levels 1–3 of the new HSK 3.0. I took HSK 4 myself, so I know what exam day feels like and where people lose time. If you only want to speak, we skip the exam practice.
One to one: tell me 12 hours before and we move it for free. In a group the lesson still happens at the usual time, but I send you the notes and homework so you can catch up.
